Dispute resolution

Employee relations issues may arise when two or more people work together. If you or your staff are affected by a dispute, deal with it swiftly – it won’t go away if you ignore it.

The three mains disputes are:

Conduct – won’t do something (and could result in discipline and/or dismissal)

Competence – can’t do something (maybe due to ill-health or being over-promoted or have problems at home – but can still result in dismissal).

Grievance – want something (such as a pay rise) or want something to stop (such as bullying or discrimination) and could lead to you and your company being sued if not dealt with (as a worst case scenario).
